Quetzalcoatl's Temple

Quetzalcoatl Temple

The worship of Quetzalcoatl was sometimes known to include human sacrifices, although there have been some that say he opposed human sacrifice. He is considered to be a very ancient god. Traces of his worship can be seen amongst the ruins of ancient Teotihuacan, located in Mexico. It is assumed that he allowed Cortes and the Spaniards to enter Aztec land. The Aztecs thought that Cortes was reincarnated as Quetzalcoatl, who returned from the East in order to get his land back, as it was said in many Indian legends. Quetzalcoatl worship was so strong that even after hundreds of years since the conquest, traders living in small Indian towns would work extremely hard, saving money for over twenty years in order to hold a grand banquet in the honor of Quetzalcoatl.
